Please help protect babies from whooping cough. In November 2024, health agencies confirmed that Aotearoa New Zealand is now in the early stages of a whooping cough epidemic, which is expected to continue over the next one to two years.
Unvaccinated babies have no immunity to this nasty, highly contagious respiratory disease. It causes severe bouts of coughing, which can last up to three months and cause serious harm or death to young babies.
If you haven’t had a whooping cough vaccination within the last 10 years, please book in for a booster. It’s free for expectant mums and some older adults.
if you spend time around young babies, we strongly encourage you to make sure your whopping cough vaccination is up to date. The whooping cough booster will also update your protection against tetanus and could save a young baby’s life.
