Whooping cough – protect your babies

Do you have young children or a baby in your house? Maybe you’re a new grandparent. Please check you are immunised against whooping cough. Let’s keep our kids safe from this serious illness. The whooping cough vaccine is given free of charge to pregnant women between 28 and 38 weeks gestation.

Whooping cough can be very serious for babies and children – especially those under 1 year old. If babies catch whooping cough, they may not be able to feed or breathe properly. They may become so ill they need to go to hospital and could end up with serious complications such as pneumonia and brain damage.
