Shingles vaccine

Updated: Sep 1, 2019

Shingles is caused by the same virus as chickpox and causes a painful itchy rash. It is most common in the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Vaccination with Zostavax reduces the risk of your caching shingles and reduces the long term pain it can cause.

Zostavax is currently offered free of charge to 65 year olds.

Between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2020 Zostavax can also be given free of charge to people aged 66 to 80 years.
