Pinnacle Cyber Incident – current update Wed 5/10/22

Pinnacle has informed us on Tues 4 Oct that they experienced a cyber incident on Wed 28 Sept. The services affected include the Pinnacle group regional offices and specific Primary Health Care practices run by Pinnacle across parts of the Waikato Region. Pinnacle does not hold information like GP notes, but does hold personal information such as names, addresses and National Health Index (NHI) numbers. Pinnacle were able to immediately take the affected IT offline and contain it, but it is likely that some information was accessed from the system, which could include commercial and personal details.

Little London Medical Clinic has not been directly affected by this cyber incident, which means that patient medical records that we store have not been accessed or breached.

How can I find out more?

More details will be shared on the website www.pinnacle.co.nz when available. The most current release is here: Pinnacle Midlands Health Network cyber incident | Pinnacle Please check there for updates.

Pinnacle has engaged the specialist support services of IDCARE, New Zealand’s national identity and cyber support community service. IDCARE Case Managers can be engaged via their online Get Help for Individuals booking form at idcare.org and by using the referral code PBN22 when prompted.

Is there a number I can ring?

IDCARE’s National support number is freephone 0800 121 068 and is active from 9am NZDT to 7pm NZDT Monday to Friday.

What happens from here?

For now, please be assured that your personal medical details at LLMC have not been breached, and that data breached at Pinnacle are limited to commercial and personal details. This does mean however, that some patient names, addresses and NHI numbers may have been accessed.

We will be briefed by Pinnacle over today and this week and will keep our information as current as possible.

Thank you,

The LLMC Team
